Along the St. Lawrence River, two teenagers from very different worlds meet during a summer in the Canadian wilderness. Le Rouge, a young Métis orphan who lives by hunting and fishing, knows the land intimately; Marie, visiting with her adoptive parents, knows little of the natural world. As each introduces the other to a different way of life, their brief connection becomes a tender story of loneliness, discovery, and first love.
