Partner With Us

Story Keepers Books is proud to support local authors, artists, makers, instructors, and other creatives throughout the Milwaukee area.

Whether you’re interested in selling your work in our store, hosting an author event, leading a class, starting a book club, or bringing another idea to our community, we’d love to hear from you.

Consignment Opportunities

Are you a local author, artist, or maker looking for a place to showcase and sell your work?

Our consignment program gives local creators an opportunity to reach customers who value locally created books, art, gifts, and other unique items.

How It Works

  • Creators receive 75% of the selling price, with Story Keepers Books retaining 25%.
  • You set your own prices.
  • Your work is displayed in our store alongside books, art, gifts, and other items from local creators.
  • Local authors receive a dedicated display that includes their books along with a framed author photo and bio, helping customers connect with the person behind the work.
  • We handle customer transactions and sales tax at the point of sale.

Ready to Get Started?

Please review our Consignment Guidelines for complete details about the program.

Events, Classes & Community Gatherings

Interested in hosting something at Story Keepers Books?

We welcome proposals for author events, book clubs, classes, workshops, discussion groups, creative gatherings, and other events that fit with our bookstore and community.

Author Events

Author meet-and-greets and book signings are free to host at Story Keepers Books, with books sold during the event going through our consignment process.

Our typical author events are casual, drop-in meet-and-greets where authors can meet readers, talk about their work, sign books, and connect with the community. We are also open to readings, Q&As, discussions, or other activities that help readers connect with the author and their work.

We ask authors to help promote their event through their own social media, mailing lists, community groups, or other channels so we can work together to reach as many readers as possible.

If you’re an author interested in scheduling an event, submit an event proposal and tell us a little about yourself and your availability. If we move forward with the event, we’ll follow up with the additional information needed for consignment and event planning.

Book Clubs, Meetings & Other Gatherings

Our back room is available for private book clubs, meetings, discussion groups, and similar gatherings during our regular business hours.

Room rental is $20 per hour.

The space works best for groups of about 12 people or fewer.

This option is ideal if you simply need a comfortable place to gather and plan to manage your own group.

Classes & Paid Events

If you would like to host a class, workshop, or other event that requires advance registration and payment, Story Keepers Books can handle customer sign-ups for you.

For events where we are simply processing registrations, the fee is $1 per person who signs up through Story Keepers Books. This helps cover the cost of processing credit-card payments.

Classes and paid events are kept to about 12 participants or fewer.

Partner Events

If you would like Story Keepers Books to actively partner with you on your event, the fee is $5 per person who signs up through Story Keepers Books.

Partner events are included in our regular event promotion, including:

  • Social media promotion
  • In-store event posters
  • Inclusion in our window event display
  • Placement with our other upcoming events
  • Registration handled through Story Keepers Books

We also ask event hosts to help promote their event through their own social media, mailing lists, community groups, or other channels.

This option is best for instructors, creators, and organizers who would like Story Keepers Books to help actively promote and manage registration for their event.

Have an Event Idea?

We’re open to more than the examples above.

If you have an idea for a class, club, workshop, discussion, author event, or other gathering that you think would be a good fit for Story Keepers Books, send it our way.

Submitting an idea does not guarantee that we’ll be able to host the event, but we’re always interested in hearing about new ways to bring readers, creators, and the community together.

Submit an Event Proposal

Not Sure Which Option Is Right for You?

That’s okay.

Fill out the event proposal form with as much information as you have, and let us know what you’re hoping to do. We can determine which option makes the most sense based on the type of event, number of attendees, registration needs, and how you’d like Story Keepers Books to be involved.

We’re looking forward to working with even more local authors, artists, makers, instructors, and community members — and finding new ways to make Story Keepers Books a place to read, create, connect, and discover something new.
